Wine and Flavours

It happens rarely,  that a territory can offer  such a wide and tempting variety of food and wine. The most striking example is the truffle , which can be found at the fairs in  Sant'Agata Feltria, Sant'Angelo in Vado and Acqualagna. And Acqualagna boasts the title of "capital of the truffle" throughout the year.
Together with the truffles , you will find a large variety of  mushrooms, present almost everywhere in the Apennines area.

On the border to Romagna, in Talamello, you will find the famous “Formaggio di Fossa”, literary "pit cheese" , since it is  produced in the pits left by the Malatesta family. Another cheese has conquered the palates of nobles : The “ Caciotta of Urbino”, a real passion for Michelangelo.
The extra virgin olive oil is of excellent quality and is produced in the oil mills of Cartoceto, Piagge and Corinaldo.

The fish is actually the real protagonist of a simple,  tasty and surprisingly various  cuisine which combines perfectly all the products of this fantastic land.
Among the wines: Sangiovese and Bianchello, the latter indicated by tradition as the cause of the defeat of Hasdrubal against the Romans in the famous battle of Metauro. Vernaccia di Pergola and Pinot Noir (initially introduced by the army of Napoleon)and now replanted in the  coastal area of the San Bartolo Park. The famous Verdicchio of Jesi castles, the white and red Esimo, the superb Lacrima di Morro and the noble Rosso Conero complete our extensive range of wines and flavors.
